The latex mattress is of three types. They are
- Natural
- Blended
- Synthetic
Natural Latex Mattress:
Natural latex mattresses are made by the latex obtained by the rubber tree called Hevea Brasiliensis.
The latex used as primary material is 100% natural and it is an eco-friendly mattress.
Blended Latex Mattress:
Blended latex mattress consists of 30% natural latex and 70% synthetic latex. It is not durable like the natural latex mattress.
Synthetic Latex Mattress:
The primary material for synthetic latex mattresses is styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR).
It is an alternative for a natural latex mattress but it is not durable like a natural mattress and not even durable like a blended latex mattress.

How latex mattresses are made?
The primary material used for latex mattresses is latex which is obtained from rubber trees.
The latex is obtained by one of two methods. They are the Dunlop process and the Talalay process. Let’s see the details of the process.
Dunlop process:
In the process, the latex is obtained by pouring the latex into the mold and begins the heating, so that the latex becomes harder.
Then the hardened latex is removed from the mold. The Dunlop process is simple and energy-efficient.
Talalay process:
In the process, the latex is poured into the mold and with the help of a vacuum, the latex is expanded all over the mold.
Then to get a gel-like texture, carbon dioxide is injected into the latex when it is in the freezer.
At last, the gel-like foam is heated and removed from the mold to make a mattress.
The Talalay process consumes more energy and time than the Dunlop process.
But the latex made from the Talalay process is softer than the latex made from the Dunlop process.
The latex made from the Talalay process is not 100% natural whereas the latex made from the Dunlop process is 100% natural.
