Today, the trio of Umesh Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Shahbaz Ahmed was added to India's team for the three-match T20 series against South Africa.

Pacer Mohammad Shami missed the T20 series against Australia after a COVID-19 infection and is yet to heal completely.

Deepak Hooda has also been ruled out of the series because of a back injury.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has quoted Umesh Yadav as Shami's substitute and Shreyas Iyer as a substitute for Hooda.

Left-arm spin-all-rounder Shahbaz is still uncrowned. He was picked in the Indian ODI as Washington Sundar's alternate for the Zimbabwe series but did not get a game.
